With the elimination of the Clerk-Treasurers office Mayor Brainard has closed the door on any oversight.
What we think is important is not as relevant as the actual tenant’s own comments.

So why do the tenants complain? Could we find indications of deferred maintenance from a quick external inspection?
What about other Sophia Square Public Facilities?
The public restroom, which I give them kudos for having, also has deferred maintenance.
This water runs constantly and cannot be shut off.
“Places with an obsession for maintenance do not let things fall apart before they are fixed. They seal cracks, they pluck weeds, they change light bulbs, and they generally keep things near top condition. They purposefully dedicate the time and resources to maintaining what they have above all other pursuits, especially prioritized over any effort that would expand their systems.”

So I ask you would a developer like Keystone Realty really care if his project was temporary if he knew shoddy work created repeat business with large profit margins?

From their reviews, it seems obvious they have little concern for their tenants as indicated by their response on 12/26/2019 to a 9/12/2019 complaint. That it takes 3 months and 14 days between making a complaint and getting a response tells you all you need to know.

Is Carmel Leadership concerned? This was Sue Wolfgang’s response regarding sustainability. Henry Mestetsky liked it so we have nothing to worry about!
As you will learn in the next post in the series Sophia Square has even deeper and more ominous issues that have ramifications for the entire Jim Brainard experiment in City building.
Carmel isn’t at all like Henry Mestetsky’s experience playing Sim City.
More like Jim Brainard as Leisure Suit Larry.
